When I visited New Orleans many years ago, I was charmed by the color and lovely details of the small houses I saw. Upon visiting recently, I was determined to photograph them.
But I wasn’t satisfied with capturing the current reality. I wanted to retain what was beautiful about these homes but imbue them with a mystery, a haunting that was more like a memory.
